Exciting TV News! BBC Four acquires Wisting
Sandstone Press is delighted to learn that BBC Four has acquired the Norwegian crime series Wisting, which will air in the UK later this year. The series is based on two of prize-winning author Jorn Lier Horst’s internationally best-selling detective novels, The Hunting Dogs and The Caveman.
Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, known for her roles in The Matrix and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, alongside leading Norwegian actor Sven Nordin, Wisting is set in the stunning landscape of South-Western Norway. The series follows detective William Wisting as he investigates the most disturbing case of his career. Then Wisting’s daughter Line, a journalist with an acute sense of justice, follows a lead straight into the path of the serial killer the FBI and Norwegian Police Service are chasing.
Robert Davidson, Publisher and Managing Director at Sandstone Press, is thrilled with the announcement. ‘We have been working in partnership with this great storyteller, Jorn Lier Horst, his original Norwegian publisher, Gyldendal Norsk, and our brilliant translator, Anne Bruce, for a decade, and it is wonderful to see his work reach a wider audience in this way. The Wisting series is going to grip audiences from the first scene to the last, just as Jorn’s books have done.’
Sue Deeks, head of BBC program acquisition, says, ‘Wisting has already been a tremendous success in the Nordic countries, and we have no doubt that BBC viewers will be equally engaged by such a likeable, emotionally complex lead character, and a compelling plot full of twists and turns.’
