The Great Outdoors Awards shortlists

The shortlists have been announced for this year’s The Great Outdoors Awards, and we’re delighted that two of our authors have been nominated for awards.

Chris Townsend has been shortlisted for Personality of the Year. He regularly contributes to TGO magazine, and has written 22 books on the outdoors. His latest books with Sandstone Press are Out There, Rattlesnakes and Bald Eagles, and Grizzly Bears and Razor Clams. Out There, his most recent title, draws on more than forty years experience as an outdoorsman, discusses the wild, its importance to civilisation, and why we simply cannot do without it.

Hamish Brown has been shortlisted for the Book of the Year, with his latest title, Walking the Song. Hamish has been an active outdoorsman for more than sixty years. He has contributed articles and essays to many journals and, in this selection, he presents not an autobiography or some overview of life, but a very personal record of his many journeys and interests from his ‘dancing days of spring’ to his present, very active, later life. The book has been described as ‘Eloquent and evocative,’ by Keith Partridge, while The National referred to it as ‘pellucid and exhilarating.’

Voting is open until the 15th of November, and we would love to have your support. Please vote for your favourite books, people and retailers here: https://goo.gl/cojbSU
